Homunculus Basics

A Homunculus is a special companion available to Alchemist-class characters. It can assist you in battle, gain levels, and later evolve into a stronger form known as Homunculus S.

Maximum Level

• Base Homunculus (before mutation): maximum level 99
• Homunculus S (after mutation): maximum level 200

How to Get a Homunculus

1. Create a Merchant character and advance to Alchemist.
2. Talk to the Platinum Skills NPC and obtain the skill Bioethics.
3. Bioethics allows you to learn the following Homunculus-related skills:
   • Rest
   • Call Homunculus
   • Resurrect Homunculus
4. Obtain an Embryo.
5. Use Call Homunculus while the Embryo is in your inventory.

When you use the skill, one Embryo will be consumed and a random base Homunculus will be created.

How to Get an Embryo

Embryos are not sold in regular NPC shops. You can get them in several ways:

• Buy them from the Market (@go 37)
• Buy them from other players through the #trade channel
• Craft them yourself using the Pharmacy skill

Checking Your Homunculus

After summoning your Homunculus, you can:

• Open the Homunculus information window with Alt + R
• Use the command @hominfo to view detailed stats and Intimacy

If you do not get the Homunculus you want, you can permanently delete it using the del button in the Homunculus window and try again with another Embryo.

If Call Homunculus Does Not Work

Call Homunculus consumes a Seed of Life each time it is used.

How to Raise Your Homunculus

You raise a Homunculus mainly by increasing its Intimacy through feeding.

Feeding Rules

Feed your Homunculus when its hunger is between 11 and 81.

Avoid the following:

• Do not let hunger fall to 10 or lower
• Do not feed at 81 or higher

Homunculus food can be purchased from:

• The Trader NPC inside the Geffen Tool Shop

Autofeed

You can enable Autofeed in the Alt + R menu.

Once your Homunculus reaches Loyal, you can evolve it by using a Stone of Sage.

Evolution grants:

• Higher Max HP
• Higher Max SP
• Better stats

How to Level a Homunculus

A Homunculus gains:

• 50% of monster kill EXP you receive
• 10% of quest EXP you receive

EXP bonuses such as manuals also affect Homunculus EXP gain.

Your Homunculus will not gain EXP if it is:

• Dead

• Vaporized

How to Get Homunculus S

To mutate your Homunculus into a Homunculus S, you must meet the following requirements:

• You must be a Genetic
• Your Homunculus must be evolved
• Your Homunculus must be level 99

1. Go to Lighthalzen (@go 20)
2. Enter the Geneticist Guild at @navi job3_gen01 45 50
3. Talk to Viorel
4. Complete the short quest
5. Pay 50,000 zeny if you want to choose your Homunculus S
6. Or let Viorel choose one randomly

Homunculus Overview

The best Homunculus depends on your playstyle and goals.

Homunculus	Characteristics
Amistr (Brute)	Tank type. Amistr has high HP pool, Defense, and decent Attack. Tends to have low INT, SP pool, and low SP regen.
	Its loyal skill (Blood Lust) temporarily boosts its physical attack damage. Amistr's Castling is also useful to get yourself out of dangerous situations. All-round good Homunculus base for general purpose.
Filir (Brute)	ASPD type. Filir has decent Attack and Attack Speed. Tends to have moderate HP pool and low SP pool.
	Filir has a melee attack skill (Moonlight) that is instacast. Its loyal skill (S.B.R. 44) deals damage according to its Intimacy, and reduces Intimacy after usage.
Lif (Demi-Human)	Magic type. Lif has decent Magic Attack and SP pool. Tends to have low Attack, Defense, Attack Speed, and HP pool.
	Lif's recovery and movement speed buff skills (Healing Hands and Urgent Escape) are not useful after the owner becomes a Genetic. Aesthetically pleasing but functionally dubious compared to other Homunculi.
Vanilmirth (Formless)	Mandatory Homunculus for brewers, as Vanilmirth's Instruction Change improves Pharmacy success rates. Well-rounded stats and stat growth, and is also a good Homunculus base for general purpose.
	Vanilmirth has a magic attack skill (Caprice) that is instacast. Its loyal skill (Self Destruction) deals damage according to its MaxHP, and reduces Intimacy after it is used.

Filir

Type: Brute

• Attack Speed focused
• Decent Attack and ASPD
• Moderate HP
• Low SP pool
• Has a melee instant-cast skill: Moonlight
• Loyal skill: S.B.R. 44 scales with Intimacy, but reduces Intimacy when used

Good for players who prefer faster attack behavior.

Lif

Type: Demi-Human

• Magic-oriented Homunculus
• Good MATK and SP pool
• Low Attack, Defense, ASPD, and HP
• Skills like Healing Hands and Urgent Escape become less useful once the owner becomes a Genetic

Visually appealing, but generally less effective than other choices.

Vanilmirth

Type: Formless

• Well-rounded stats and growth
• Essential for brewers because Instruction Change improves Pharmacy success
• Good general-purpose Homunculus
• Has an instant-cast magic skill: Caprice

Bayeri

Type: Brute

• Holy-element damage dealer
• Stahl Horn is single-target Neutral damage based on ATK
• Heilage Stange is Holy AoE damage based on MATK
• Defensive and buff skills are instant-cast
• Offensive skills have fixed cast time and can be interrupted

Dieter

Type: Formless

• Fire-element damage dealer
• Lava Slide is Fire AoE based on ATK
• Can buff both itself and its owner with Pyroclastic
• Volcanic Ash can reduce enemy hit rate, cause skill failures, and greatly increase Fire damage taken
• Granitic Armor reduces damage taken by both owner and Homunculus

Eira

Type: Angel

• Wind and Neutral damage dealer
• Eraser Cutter and Xeno Slasher scale with ATK
• Skill element changes by skill level
• Overed Boost increases ASPD and Flee for both owner and Homunculus, but increases hunger drain
• Has an auto-resurrection skill and a healing skill with a chance to inflict Silence

Eleanor

Type: Demi-Human

• Strong single-target Neutral DPS
• Best suited for 1v1 combat
• No buff skills

Sera

Type: Insect

• Poison and Neutral damage dealer
• Needle of Paralysis can immobilize enemies
• Poison Mist deals Poison AoE damage and may inflict Blind
• Pain Killer is extremely useful for mobbing because it reduces normal attack damage taken

Which Homunculus Is Best?

There is no single best Homunculus for every situation.

In general:

• Amistr = durable all-round option
• Filir = faster attack style
• Lif = niche magic/support choice
• Vanilmirth = best for brewers and strong general-purpose option

For Homunculus S:

• Bayeri = Holy damage and utility
• Dieter = strong Fire support and AoE utility
• Eira = offensive speed and mobility support
• Eleanor = single-target damage
• Sera = excellent utility for mobbing and control
